Small Business Person of the Year

Dr. Rajan Natarajan of Global Alliant, Inc. in Columbia

Global Alliant is an information technology consulting and software development firm, in which he had a successful career in bioscience research, resulting in over 50 research publications and a US patent, along with serving as Maryland Deputy Secretary of State and Maryland Commissioner of Transportation. 

In less than four years, Rajan has added 60 employees, with sales skyrocketing to over $9 million, obtaining SBA’s 8(a) certification and state minority small business certifications were key elements of Rajan’s business plan.


He secured government contracts with NOAA, Department of Human Services, and among others.

Most recently received a 5-year, $64 million contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, in which he founded The Natarajan Family Scholarship for underprivileged high school students, and serves on the board of Asian-American Youth Leadership Empowerment and Development.
