2016’s Women in Business Champion is Diane Montier, Manager of Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in Glen Burnie, nominated by the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce.
Thirteen years ago, Diane was a single mom seeking to supplement the income from her “day job” with part-time work at Bruster’s. Little did she know that in a short time, the out of state owners would rely on her for managerial tasks and ultimately offer her partial ownership in the business. Diane now works full time managing two Bruster’s locations.
What started as a simple part-time job has turned into an avenue for Diane to follow her true passion…mentoring. Her staff is comprised of mostly young adults, giving her the opportunity to teach them the keys to successful entrepreneurship. She helps to build their confidence and trusts them to make decisions on how to handle customer concerns; nurturing their independence and developing their problem solving skills.
Diane is generous with her time and expertise and frozen treats too! She serves as the President of the Northern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce advocating on behalf of her fellow business owners on legislative matters and bringing people together to share ideas and foster one another’s success. Diane volunteers and donates ice cream annually for National Night Out and partners with the Walter Reed Medical Center to provide ice cream sundaes for wounded military personnel.
